Secretary of State- Hillary Clinton

Dick Morris laughed at the idea. Hillary Clinton wouldn’t be Secretary of State and she could not make the grade because of Bill Clinton’s international dealings. No one gets them all right, Dick. Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration. Who would have THUNK it?

I’ve said for more than a year now that Obama has the “opportunity” to be reconciliator. Obviously a bridge for national race relations and a bridge for religious tolerance. He is the epitome of both and he is hated by those who are racists and religious fundamentalists. But, we know that don’t we? What we don’t know is IF he will follow through or fall prey to the pressures that so many administrations do.

Selecting Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State sends a good message!

Obama’s advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton’s foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem. Clinton would be well placed to become the country’s dominant voice in foreign affairs, replacing Condoleezza Rice. Since being elected senator for New York, she has specialised in foreign affairs and defence. Although she supported the war in Iraq, she and Obama basically agree on a withdrawal of American troops.

Meeting today with John McCain sends a good message.

JohnMcCain has many programs and desires that are middle of the road which Obama would be wise to reach out to and work with for the good of the nation. It seems that people are drawn to Obama. He represents HOPE and even after being elected, the demand to get a glimpse of what he’s about is amazing.

Barack Obama’s first televised post-election interview gave Sunday night’s “60 Minutes” its biggest audience in at least nine years. The CBS News program was seen by 24.5 million viewers and earned a 6.4 preliminary adults 18-49 rating. That marks the show’s largest viewership since 1999.

I would be surprised to see Sarah Palin offered the job of Secretary of Energy or a new Secretary Office of say “Special Needs”.  :-)

So, on to the next news cycle and more insight into just who this man MIGHT BE!    :-)

Help answer the question about Hillary Clinton

What policy proposals do Hillary Clinton and John McCain have in common?
Even though only 60 people showed up for the PUMA Conference in Washington, people still think that disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters will vote for John McCain.

Naturally, they wouldn't do that unless they like something about John McCain's policies. (If they just ignored his policies and voted for him to spite Obama, that would be self-evidently irrational.)

So what do John McCain and Hillary Clinton agree on, in terms of policies for the future of the United States?

Neither will win. This is just a cover to take the heat off all the war crap until the current administration can finish their term. Lucky the majority of lower and middle class americans are a product of the media. The “chosen one” is already coming out of the woodworks.

If Obama gets elected as president, I really hope that good change comes to this country and he is not just another politician who just want to get into the White House and try to ruin America like Bush did. We don’t need a wackjob like McCain running for president. And America’s economy is screwed up as it is, high gas prices is a perfect example.

I think Hillary is a good choice. She is smart, a hard worker, and she knows almost all the foreign heads of state she will be dealing with. She can be an effective advocate for us. I’m sure the policy differences she had with Obama during their campaign have been resolved.

My guess is that Gates is more of a transitional figure intended to provide stability during Obama’s first year or so in office. Keeping him on for some period of time will show that Obama is not an ideologue, that he will try to find the best people he can during a very difficult period in our history.

In the early months of his administration, Obama needs to address our economic problems and not have too many pots on the stove.

Easy….so she can't run against the messiah in 4 years!!!!!!

It has NOTHING to do with our security!

If it were up to me, I'd choose John Kerry of Bill Richardson. Both have the credentials. Hillary is certainly qualified, but has been on the record calling Obama naive about foreign policy and has several disagreements on the role diplomacy should have. Also, I'm not sure how she would handle playing second fiddle, and then there's Bill!

Then again, to her earned credit, she put her defeat behind her and campaigned hard for democrats and Obama showing she could work hard under Obama and be successful, so if she does get the position, I would expect the same level of cooperation.

  12. hobartcasey says:

Welcome WWIII, WWIV, WWV, and so forth. Having her in a Sec'y of State would be a major blunder. She has even less foreign policy experience than Obama and that aint sayin' much.

  13. Fern Gully says:

    at least she's liked worldwide
i always thought supreme court though
    she has the degree

  14. With the Clintons I'm more concerned about shady deals than I am her bowing to anyone.

  15. M F says:

actually the government owns a dozen or more of the same identical planes which ever one the president is using is designated as air force one it and the others all go by call numbers when the president is not on board.

That'd be a ticket to hell!
