NBA Basketball: Where Best Laid Plans Happens

The star of the evening for the Hornets was David West who scored a total of 40 points for his team of which 15 points he scored in the final quarter alone.  Los Angeles lost to New Orleans 105-116.  The defensive game played by the Hornets towards the end proved to be the turning point of the game in their favor.  NBA basketball results can be quite unpredictable!

The Lakers maintained a lead through most of the game with 92-89 in the fourth quarter but luck seemed to run out for Los Angeled when they were only able to score 5 of 21, as well as a shocking 3 of 11 from 3 point range and were outscored 27-13.

The Hornet’s coach, Byron Scott told the press that his team had to take up a defensive strategy as Bryant Kobe was unstoppable scoring on every throw and the Lakers also scored a number of 3 points.  His team tried to play Kobe straight up but that didn’t seem to work so they switched their strategy and tried to keep the ball away from him as much as possible.  This led to their win.  Live basketball results kept the fans glued to their seats all around the world.

Despite being formidable  in the first 3 quarters, Bryant was unable to deliver much in the final scoring a disappointing 2 points scoring only 1 of 6 as compared to 13 of 16 in the initial 3 quarters of the game.
Later Bryant spoke of the Hornets defense and how he couldn’t get his hands on the ball enough stating that “…they (Hornets) weren’t going to let me get a shot off”.

This was a fitting revenge for Hornets for the 2 losses they suffered at the hands of Lakers earlier on in the season in New Orleans.  David West scored 14 of 23 from the floor and another 12 of 13 from the foul line to tie up with his career high score.  West was also able to grab 11 rebounds as the Hornets won their incredible 16 the game out of 21.

West admitted that he was certain of his team’s win once they were able to force Bryant to slow down.  Winning this match was important for the Hornets as they had already lost twice to Lakers this season in their home base.
The two teams, Lakers and Hornets, will meet for a fourth and final game of this season on Feb, 20 at the Staples Center.  Hornets are hopeful of tyeing the record.

With only 5:24 minutes remaining for the end of the game, West scored 9 points giving the Hornets a lead of 109-99.  A 3 pointer by Derek Fisher with only 4:37 left, tried to compensate for Lakers inability to score in almost 4 minutes but there was no stopping the Hornets once they increased pressure on Bryant.

Paul was another All-Star for Hornets shooting 32 points, 3 steals, 15 assists and absolutely no turnovers in 44 minutes.  Tyson Chandler and Rasul Butler added 22 points and 14 rebounds between themselves.
The Hornets reached their highest score this season with 116 against Lakers.  The Lakers are pretty bogged down with
injuries as Jordan Farmar, Luke Walton couldn’t play because of left knee and right foot injuries respectively.  Now Lama Odam will also not be able to play in Wednesday night’s game due to a right knee injury during Tuesday’s game.

The NBA Marketing Machine and Nike put millions into the Kobe vs. LeBron Finals match-up. Dwight Howard and the Magic, however, didn’t get that memo. Here’s a classic parody on the NBA’s “Where Amazing Happens” video that sums it all up!

No, i’ve never played in the nba, have you? The bigger bad call on nene was his 4th or 5th where he is simply trying to get position in the post for the ball and they call him for a foul. Also billups was called for a charge when he made a lay-up in the 1st quarter when ariza was clearly in the restricted area. These little bad calls add up over the course of a game.

sounds like someone is a bit upset about some Laker success.

No championship is ever given to a team. If you’ve ever played the game you should be able to understand that.

  8. doobiesz says:

Nene was rather innefective that game and put himself in a lot of bad positions late in the game.

The foul your refering to I assume is the blocking call on Nene that fouled him out. We’ll Nene was shuffling his feet to get into position and half heartedly flopped to try and draw the O foul and in the process tangled up Gasol. He put the ref in a position to make a call on a key possession.

Like it or not refs are human. Denver had a ton to do with their own defeat in the WCF.

Lakers fans can call those who point out this FACT ‘haters,’ but I believe deep down inside they know their championship was given to them. I won’t even elaborate on the fact that almost every contender in the West had key players either injured or recently back from an extended absence. Enjoy your championship with an asterisk, Lakers fans!

I like it, its not the best, but like the guy on 1st and 10 said, think about one of the players making a HUGE dunk, then you hear a giant thunder sound effect that shakes the entire arena, that would be tight, and as for it sounding like a small time team, i can agree with that, but what about other teams, like utah jazz, i know they were from N.O, but the jazz? in utah?i dont even know where utah is haha, or the clippers, sounds like a team owned by a barbershop or sumthing, i like thunder better then barons too, and i like it over alot of names in the nba, i think dumb names are like, spurs, jazz, nuggets, or bucks, whats with bucks? o, lets put a deer as our logo, thunder isnt such a bad name to me.

  17. Dani says:

It depends what team you want to watch. If the team sucks the ticket prices are low. If the team is good the prices are higher. Go to NBA.com and select the team you want to buy tickets for.
