Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince Will Turn 50 This Year

This year some of the most famous pop stars of the 1980′s will turn 50, the most well known among them are probably Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince. So you may consider this post to be some kind of a small tribute to the aging stars…

Madonna Louise Ciccone Ritchie, commonly known as “Madonna” and sometimes called “The Queen of Pop”, was born August 16, 1958. Her debut was in 1982, she sold more than 232 million albums and 150 million singles worldwide, won multiple Grammy and Golden Globe-awards and also worked as record producer, film producer, actress and author. She is the top earning female singer in the world with an estimated net worth of over $325 million and she will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

Michael Joseph Jackson, sometimes also called “The King of Pop”, was born August 29, 1958 and began his musical career in 1963 at the age of five with the Jackson Family vocal group, releasing his first solo record in 1971. Michael received thirteen Grammy Awards and charted thirteen Number One singles in the United States, and “Thriller” is the best-selling album of all time (over 104 million copies sold). He has been named the “Most Successful Entertainer of All Time” by Guinness World Records and sold over 750 million units worldwide. However Jackson’s controversial appearance and actions has damaged his reputation and album sales has been in decline since the mid 1990′s.

Prince Rogers Nelson, commonly known as “Prince”, was born June 7, 1958. His career began in 1978, his biggest success was “Purple Rain” which sold more than thirteen million copies in the US alone and spent twenty-four consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200. The Academy Award-winning “Purple Rain” movie grossed more than $80 million in the US alone. In 1993 he dropped the name “Prince” after a legal dispute with his record company Warner Brothers (he readopted the name Prince since 2000). Although not quite as successful as Madonna or Michael Jackson, Prince has to be considered be have been one of the most influencial musicians during the 1980′s. He produces, composes, arranges and performs nearly all of the songs on his albums.

Help answer the question about Michael Jackson

Has Michael Jackson confirmed that he converted to Islam?
I have read in various articles and heard on some news stations that Michael Jackson has converted to Islam and became a muslim. Is this true? Did Michael Jackson, himself, ever confirm from his own words or through his spokesperson that he has converted to Islam? I am just not too sure about believing the media about everything.

Dude michael jackson has released the BEST selling album of all time back in 1982 which is thriler but he continued to make great music till the late 90s, maybe then he didnt really released much new albums and stuff but ppl still listens to his songs regardless frm the 80s or 90s and i love this man for his talent and as a great person who have gone through alot taken alot of preasure from this trail which he was framed by a greedy mother but later proven innocent.Even though he is from 70s,80s,90s he is still the King of pop who influnced many great artist of this era like usher, J T, beyonce, neyo and some of them even uses his moves and vocal techniques

  12. Cherrigirl22 says:

his lawyer wrote or said something that said that all rumours of michael converting to islam were rubbish. How can a man who says he believes in God, says, 'God bless you' to everybody, says his talent comes from heaven, (and recently) possibly convert to islam so easily. Besides, I am convinced Michael never will, and as for all the 'Mikael' or whatever it was business, why was he still being referred to everywhere as michael? The press and these news people are quite mad, along with the mj haters, don't you agree? It would be better than a millstone were hanged about there neck and they be thrown into the depths of the sea.

  13. JUSTICE says:

Well, I think the way you phrased your question is insulting, BUT you do have a point. That is that Obama voters seem to be "jumping on the boat" simply because the idea of the "first black president" is exciting. Mr. Obama IS articulate and well spoken, which impresses the easily impressed…BUT it's hard to pinpoint any real accomplishments in the political arena. As a senator, his record as a Senator isn't very impressive. He heads no committees and is a member in 3, I believe. He shows up to vote on issues a little more than 1/2 the time and just doesn't seem interested in serving as a representative to the people who elected him. I'm not impressed, but a lot of people are overlooking that. I don't understand why?

  14. K F says:

Well Billie Jean, Thriller, Beat it, Smooth Criminal, PYT (Pretty Young Thing) also Don't Stop Till You Get Enough is pretty funky, I'm Australian but i think the favourites here were the same as everywhere else really. They are good songs – Enjoy

Billie Jean? They Don't Care About Us? I have no idea.

    ♥We Love You MJ♥

  16. Thuvan D says:

First, you should know that Michael Jackson's floor was not automatic- there was a propman with a box full of switches. If you watch closely, you can see him light up one that wasn't quite stepped on.

However, you could make it light up automatically. Make a grid of 2×6 timbers on the floor, cut out thick squares of plexiglass and mount them on top of some kind of pressure sensor. I would hesitate to rely on a switch, because if the square must dip more than a small fraction of an inch, you will have a ledge that your son could trip on.

This is a bit advanced, though. I'd like to suggest you come over to the Electronics_101 Yahoogroup and ask there for more detail.

  17. Kurt says:

In Rush hour 2, he sings "Don't stop til you get enough".
In Rush hour 1, he sings "Another part of me".

I LOVE both songs! You should get both!
